Planning your first solo trip is not easy decision to make it. Whatever your reasons for going alone on an adventure, taking a solo trip is the most fun ways to find your inner child and you won't regret it! Here is the guide to planning your first solo trip by me; tried and tested!
I love traveling by myself and have had some fantastic experiences abroad all on my own. In fact, sometimes I actually prefer traveling alone over traveling with others.
Here is why I love traveling alone, and some tips to help you plan your first solo trip;
Choose the destination wisely!
When it comes to choose the destination you need to make sure that the location provides plenty things to do. Big cities usually keep you busy all day long. At the same time, if you have to do all the navigation yourself, aim for those cities where it's relatively easy to get around. On the other hand, if you are planning to join a tour to explore the city choose the tour that provides multiday tours for solo travellers. You will make lifelong friends by just getting around with complete strangers in an unusual setting.
Destinations with great hotels and hostels for solo travellers
I personally do not feel confortable sleeping in a dorm with complete strangers in my late 30's. At the same time, going over your budget and paying for private hotel rooms makes my travel uneasy. Before choosing your stay make sure to look at the rates and reviews do your little research on the way to your destination by asking locals. Some of the hostels will have private rooms with bathrooms, which are like a simple hotel rooms with cheaper version.
Solo travel tips
Once you booked your first solo trip after choosing your destinatiion, make sure remember these tips to make your travel memorable.
As I discussed how difficult when travelling alone, especially when it comes to have your lunch and dinner at a restaurant. It is the most boring thing for me to go for a restaurant to ask for a table for one and sit there doing nothing beside eating while other people chatting with their friends and families. It would be strange to just stairing at your phone all the time. What I can suggest is go over your confort zone and start chatting with the server or the people next table. Ask them about the local places you must see. It sounds like regular social activity for most of you, but for people who are not confortable talking with strangers, go try and be more social and approachable. You will find more valuable information to explore the city from the locals than internet.
